Lamington
{summary}Around an hour and a half drive from the city is Lamington National Park.
Travel down the highway towards the Gold Coast, keep going past theme park alley and take the Nerang exit. Follow the signs to Springbrook and enjoy the specfacular climb into Lamington National Park.
Along the way there are incredible views back to the coast as well as more intimate views into the deep gorges, some of which include hundreds of metre drops next to waterfalls. Depending on the light the waterfalls produce their own rainbows.
One of the last stops is a lookout aptly named Best of All.
This lookout vista takes in Mount Warning to the southwest, Byron to the southeast and Tweed Heads to the east. On a clear day it is nothing short of stunning.
Drive slowly on the trip back down, particularily in the afternoon as Pademelon are often out along the roadsite.
