Labour Day

{summary}

Wondering why its a day off today...its Labour Day.

Indeed in Queensland it has special significance, not only the fact its only celebrated here today, but Queensland is the only state that holds a mass procession and celebration.

The Brisbane celebration was moved to May in 1893 following Barcaldine 1 May 1891 striking bush workers marches through the streets.

Of importance today though is Kevin Rudd spent time leading the parade in Brisbane.

Will be interesting to see if it wins him the essential votes in this years federal election.

Interesting, I never knew Queensland was the only state with mass procession. A state to be proud of.
