Chaos Continues

Same turnaround times for the travel back in the city this morning. At least the bus driver was informed and let people know to exit for the train due diversions.

Radio stations are now picking up on the theory of ‘delay the people will remember’ to ensure another river crossing is built. Its the talk of the town with everyone relaying their own travel story. Not too many of them being positive.

Interesting times.

City Traffic Chaos

Well my 12 minute bus trip home this afternoon turned into over 40 minutes. Know I am definitely one of the lucky ones.

As I am sure everyone who tried to leave the CBD this afternoon already knows both Alice and Anne Street on ramps have been closed following discovery of cracks. The Riverside Expressway has also been closed to all traffic both northbound from the Elizabeth Street exit and southbound from the William Jolly Bridge.

Other than massive delays, these events will certainly help any ‘yes’ position for more crossings of the river.

Craft and Quits

If my ma was here she would be thrilled by this one. Certainly so would her quilting friends.

Not that I have a problem with it in any way, and the things they produce are next to incredible. Actually I believe this time I have incorrectly rated something. They are incredible. The number of hours and amount of soul that goes into them is simple outstanding.

Where is this all leading you may now be thinking. Well the Craft and Quilt Fair is on again in 2006.

Everything from quilting, stamping, patchwork, folk and decorative art, embroidery, scrapbooking, doll making, spinning and weaving, cross stitch, and whatever my mothers friends live I am sure they will indulge it at the fair!

To experience the excitement head over to Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre with your $15 entry fee between 18 - 22 October. Enjoy!

Brisbane Octoberfest

Sure it was not all a cultural event for everyone. But then they do seem to be enjoying themselves. Don’t they?

Connecting Cultures

Roma Street parklands tomorrow hosts Connecting Cultures as a part of Queensland Multicultural Festival following on from sucess in 2004 and 2005.

About 90 artists will from 60 plus ethinc backgrounds will be performing dance, and song. Also included are 30 international food stalls.

With Brisvegas continually changing around us, including the addition of new cultures, this is the perfect way to get a rapid update.

As the parklands are still looking great despite the current water shortages, and the location on top of public transport, the event is expected to be an excellent family outing.

Queensland Ballet 2007

For the more refined audience Queensland Ballet has announced the 2007 series productions.

Just seeing the brochure reminds me of my grandparents, and my grandfather in particular. They both really enjoyed the ballet and always has season tickets. For some reason it was a particular joy for them when one of the grandchildren would attend.

The 2007 production lineup includes audience favorites such as the Nutcracker. A full list including discount subscription tickets are available now.
