Lavendar Time

Out in the Fassifern Valley, through the town of Boonah is Kooroomba Vineyard.

As well as grapes and production of their own label under the guidance of winemaker Dillon Rhymer, Kooroomba is also a lavendar farm.

Set in a spectacular valley, surrounded by hills of the Scenic Rim, Kooroomba makes for a pleasant drive especially if the trip is broken to include lunch at the restaurant.

Cellar door sales are available including Kooroomba Chardonnay, Verdelho, Marsanne, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Merlot.

While the recent rain has given the whole area a pleasing touch of green, do not be fooled. Looking into the dams and creek crossings, almost all are dry.

Brisbane Insects

Stumbled across a website Brisbane Insects.

Given its spring, with insects in abundance, its fitting the site is known by more of us in the river city.

The site features many of the insects and spiders in and around Brisbane. The site is well constructed and includes a significant number of accompanying photographs.

Well worth investigating.

Reading

Reading Brisbane has been interrupted in the past week. We are back now with posting to resume.

Melbourne over the weekend was superb, with Casey Stoner re-confirming his title with a win on Philip Island at the GMC Australian MotoGP.

Brisbane in Back

In scenes reminiscent of summers gone by, Monday night and last was a perfect reminder.

An electrical storm lit up the city and suburbs and then proceeded to sweep through with wind and rain. Not enough rain of cause, but lets start slowly.

The storm of cause interrupted power across many suburbs, with reports received in wide geographical areas across the city. Power was restored quickly and its understood all by “wake-up time” Tuesday morning from Mondays events. Fires were also reported following the storms last night.

Lets hope the summer storm does return and as well as turning gardens green also puts some rain in the catchment areas.

Brisbane is back!
