Government House
The Governor of Queensland, Quentin Bryce AC invites the people of Queensland to visit Government House tomorrow from 10am until 4pm. In addition to tours of the House, there are historical displays and talks on the gardens, architecture and past residents. Best of all the price is right, entry to Fernberg is free. With the weather expected to be a perfect Brisbane spring day why not pack up a basket and a few friends and head over to Paddington. Queensland Police Pipes and Drums as well as Brisbane Excelsior Band are there to entertain.

Milers Club
The Stalwell Gift of Brisbane. Not quite but the track will be running hot, pardon the pun, tonight for Bank of Queensland 1500m at UQ. Who can forget the excitement of watching this event at the Commonwealth Games only to see local hero Crag Mottram not live up to his own expectations although he was completely gracious in defeat. While there is no promise that this evenings events will have the drama or heartbreak of that race, it will be great to see the action! More information is available from the university on 3365 6055
Daylight Savings
Western Australia have decided to proceed with a daylight savings trial over the next three years before progressing to a referendum. This is of cause in stark contrast to Queensland where yesterday the premier Peter Beattie suggested the introdution of daylight savings will lead to an increase in skin cancer. ‘One of the issues in a state where we’ve got the highest incidence of skin cancer in the world - an extra hour of daylight is going to make that worse.’ Mr Beattie said. Cancer research bodies have subsequently rejected this claim citing research that shows the middle of the day is when problems occur. It has been 14 years since the people of Queensland last voted on the introduction of Daylight Savings. Queensland and Queenslanders have changed considerably in the past decade and a half. Maybe its time for us to consider a trial like our western counterparts. Problem is a trial might just show there is no increase in skin cancer, the cows infact do not get confused and the curtains dont fade.
