In addition to tours of the House, there are historical displays and talks on the gardens, architecture and past residents. Best of all the price is right, entry to Fernberg is free.

Western Australia have decided to proceed with a daylight savings trial over the next three years before progressing to a referendum.

This is of cause in stark contrast to Queensland where yesterday the premier Peter Beattie suggested the introdution of daylight savings will lead to an increase in skin cancer.

‘One of the issues in a state where we’ve got the highest incidence of skin cancer in the world - an extra hour of daylight is going to make that worse.’ Mr Beattie said.

Cancer research bodies have subsequently rejected this claim citing research that shows the middle of the day is when problems occur.

It has been 14 years since the people of Queensland last voted on the introduction of Daylight Savings. Queensland and Queenslanders have changed considerably in the past decade and a half. Maybe its time for us to consider a trial like our western counterparts.

Problem is a trial might just show there is no increase in skin cancer, the cows infact do not get confused and the curtains dont fade.
